As said about the PE Northern district progress by government agncies killed the PE and LARY. The LARY line 5 and others were killed by the Harbor freeway construction in the mid 50's. The end started in the 30's when the City of Los Angeles banned wood cars. Not enough money to buy steel cars resulted in bus substituion. In the 60's LA City made many downtown streets one way. No money was provided to move the tracks thus more busses.
