Several years ago, a friend picked these photo prints in downtown Orange, CA antique store. I had them scanned and posting for everyone. I've included a link to the larger size photo. Click on the photo for enlargement.
Does anyone know who took these photographs? Have they been published before?
First photo, ATSF 1145 highballing down the road. Hogger is waving at the photographer. Location?
Second is a guy running a board of the Illinois Central Railroad. Names are visible and legible on the board and include Church (just out of East St. Louis, MO, east of the large Alton & Southern yard), High Switch, Belleville, Wilderman, New Athens, Coulterville, and at least 2 other names (possibly Pinckneyville and St. Johns) hidden behind the mike. This is a stretch of the Illinois Central according to this map. Whos runs this line now? The board shows a crossing with the
Missouri-Illinois Railroad Bismarck to Salem line, parts of which still exist.
Time on watch about 8:55. The photo
was printed crooked.
The next three are Dearborn Station in Chicago. Rock Island BL-2 #425. About what year would these be? Photographer?
Notice the containers on flatcars. Old baggage cars on right. Very long string of passenger cars.
Old rolling stock on the left.
Early to mid 1960's possibly, judging by the automobile by the open shed.
The last one is probably Chicago as well. Dearborn Station? Monon #25. Mail train?
Comments, corrections, etc. appreciated.
