Or worse, 1971 San Fernando, which broke on a thrust fault with surface displacement along the base of the San Gabriels from near the I-5/210 interchange through Pacoima. San Gabriel fault is lurking back there in the mountains a ways, then of course San Andreas on the north side. The Tejon Tunnels almost seem like a better idea ... at least they cross the major, known active faults on the surface where it's easier to fix the inevitable displacement.
