I would like to add my sadness to Chris's passing. I was a member of the 700 crew for many years and Chris helped out many times to get equipment certified for mainline operation. His UP caboose is one of the favorite attractions at the Rail Heritage facility (especially for kids). His long struggle with the disease that finally took his life was dealt with like most things he did, with courage and humor. His efforts are one reason Portland is the only city with two operating 484's in its collection. That's a pretty good legacy for anyone.
