In the second photo, the forklift and piles of rebar are at the former location of the San Francisco & Napa Valley carbarn, which held the electric motors, and later diesels, that served Mare Island. The building was only torn down in the late 1980s. The three-track yard in the background was the SP-SF&NV interchange, and the two railroads crossed at grade at about the fence line at the bottom of the photo. A portion of the current spur to Mare Island is part of the old SF&NV main line between Vallejo and Calistoga.
