The lightweight baggage (Economy Baggage) car at Brightside was bought by the PLA. I was VP at the time and Henry Luna brought the proposal to buy it to the board (maybe Errol told him about it). It became the first car that we didn't make an effort to restore to how it looked when operating on the SP. Since the interior was already changed our crew modified it for our operating needs making it a toilet and concession car. It's been in regular service since the conversion was completed.
The Daylight painted heavyweight RPO/Baggage came from CSRM and had been part of the Daylight painted Roseville relief train. It was a tool car for the crane. It has a small generator in the baggage end. The RPO end is just storage. It's a cool car. It filled the RPO/Baggage hole we had in our list of heavyweight cars. If you look at the PLA collection you can see that we have enough heavyweights for a whole train:
RPO/Baggage (1 round roof, 1 clearstory roof)
Harriman Baggage
Harriman Combine
Harriman Coach
Multiple Suburban coaches
All Day Lunch
Diner
Pullman sleeper
Business car as a substitute for an observation car.
Almost all of them are operable but many of them need new paint and TLC to make a truly classic train.
