The Metrolink weekend pass is one of the best deals in town. The thought of being able to go out to Perris from LAUPT on a Saturday or Sunday, without the excruciating trauma of the now almost always awful drive to anywhere in the IE is awesome. And, it could be a big shot in the arm for improving the health of the local economy.

RCTC delayed this project so long partially due dealing with Nimby nonsense, and partially due to the costs of the 91, but also partly due to the collapse in local sales tax funding to pay for it over the last 6 years. So doing something for the local economy wouldn't hurt one bit.

OERM is a big draw that probably could be marketed better to a larger day trip audience, and draw a lot of weekend business to Perris.

Claremont is one of the easiest and best locations for "day" trips on ML, with the colleges, historic homes, walking environment, entertainment and good restaurants. Downtown Newhall is trying to do the same around the station.

And Perris, admittedly with some "work" to do (in order to "restore" and clean up downtown a bit), with the historic 1880's station, with the ML stop, and the "rail" connection to the museum, could become a similar draw.

All of which are good positive points to make when contacting your RCTC or Metrolink Board Member to urge this to happen......
