Ouch......Snuffy, that's brutal. I used to hate deadheading on the Dog, and I'd guess 3 of those 4 hours on an RTA bus would be even worse.

Maybe that's why so many folks agree that a train is a much better way to travel......and that buses suck?

If there is a multi-trip connection from San Bernardino, or Riverside, even with a transfer, that would be better than nothing, though less transfers are better.

Remember, only a handful of 91 Trains and Beach trains offer any service to Riverside, via the 3rd District on the weekend, but most weekend service is an extension of a San Bernardino line train from San Berdoo, so if that train was to change ends and reverse at Riverside, and go on to Perris, then there would be no need to transfer.
