Tom, what little I can offer is this. My son now drives home from UofI on the occasional weekend via segments of 27 and 195 toward Spokane (where his girlfriend attends Gonzaga) instead of 95 (which used to enable him shots of STMA and UP around Plummer on Friday afternoons). Three or four weeks ago, he noticed two or three units tied down on a Friday night with several cars at either Garfield or Oakesdale. On his drive back south early the following Monday, a crew was on duty and doing considerable switching on their way south. Lots of tank car storage happening on the W&I; don't know how much of it is empty crude or loaded ammonia. On the weekends, Marshall still seems to hold a fair number of cars for interchange. Late August or early September we happened upon a BNSF grain train loading at McCoy.
