Just for fun, I did a little research regarding the above two posts. I couldn't find a reference to any preserved Chicago Great Western steam locomotives. However, Kansas City Southern 0-8-0 #1023 is preserved in Kansas (was in a park in Pittsburg, but has since been moved). There is a 4-6-0 in Port Arthur, Texas lettered for KCS, but it was actually a Louisiana & Arkansas engine (L&A was a KCS subsidiary).
At least two Seaboard engines survive, both 0-4-0Ts. #1002 was at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, but has since moved to another (apparently unknown)location. #1003 is derelict and buried in kudzu along with other railroad equipment in Andalusia, Alabama.
On the other hand,I believe I heard that no Erie steam locomotives survive.
