WiFi Interference emanating from locomotives?

One of my relatives lives about a 100 yards from UP's Kenton Line in north Portland. When they are on the internet using a laptop or Kindle, the devices experience interference every time a freight train passes by their home. This happens when using WiFi broadcasted from a hotspot device and a WiFi cable modem. The interference is most noticeable when watching videos. Does anyone with railroad locomotive radio/communications/electrical experience have knowledge of this? I was curious if it is related to End-of-Train telemetry, DPU remote control or perhaps a stray frequency associated with locomotive alternators? Thanks.
