Most of the line was scrapped several years ago. Rails are intact from a point just north of Likely, California northward into Alturas. I've seen boxcars stored on that segment in years past. On the south end, rails terminate just up the hill north out of Wendel. Last fall I traveled through the area, there are still a few railroad artifacts left over such as steam-era water towers, concrete foundations, signal equipment boxes, and roadbed. The scrappers did not leave much behind, especially since scrap steel is so valuable these days.
