2016 promises to be an eventful year for the branch line.

• A motorcar excursion is tentatively planned for the Davenport Branch in April.
• SC&MB will propose their summer passenger operations to the RTC.
• The GGRM will announce their relocation soon. Wasatch Railcar Repair is at Niles preparing the equipment for the move and I am told UP will move the equipment when repairs and inspections are complete.

I received the following regarding an upcoming GGRM event at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History.

The Golden Gate Railroad Museum continues to work toward moving to Santa Cruz. We invite you to meet with us on Thursday, Feb. 4 from 7 to 9 PM at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, 705 Front Street, to learn more about our progress and to see a most interesting presentation.

We will show you a scale model of our museum proposal for Depot Park, update you on its status, and discuss next steps and opportunities to help. This is one of a regular series of meetings to keep you informed, meet our fellow rail museum supporters, and present interesting and educational programs on important railroad history subjects and rail travel adventures.

The Feb. 4 meeting will feature GGRM member Craig Miller presenting pictures and stories of his rail trip last Fall along the East Coast of Africa. Traveling from Cape Town, South Africa, to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Craig covered 3500 miles in 15 days through five countries on unique Cape Gauge railways, in the African bush, yet still in coat and tie for dinner. Please join us for Craig’s presentation; we know you will find it enjoyable.

Future meetings will feature presentations of historical importance on the railroads of the Bay Area and Santa Cruz County, as well as the history and operations of the railroad equipment in our museum collection.

Thank you for your continued interest in the Golden Gate Rail Museum. Please plan to attend for a fun and entertaining evening.
