We've just sold our condo overlooking the BNSF main just north of Portland Union Station. It's been great to be able to watch trains from our living room and balcony.
Some highlights of the last five and a half years:
Retired Montana Rail Link power headed for the scrapper:
Ex-SP 4449 out on excursion runs:
A diesel in Santa Fe "warbonnet" paint (though a bit weatherbeaten), where it belongs -- at the head of a scheduled passenger train (Amtrak "Cascades", apparently short on available Amtrak power):
A dancer busting some moves for the camera with a classic UP SD40-2 as a backdrop:
UP 352, still in unpatched Southern Pacific paint. But for the yellow frame stripe, it could still be 1995 ...
Ex-Spokane Portland & Seattle 4-8-4 #700:
Looking like "Mater" from the movie
Cars, here's the new cab car for Amtrak's "Cascades" Talgo trainsets:
Yes, this is Portland
