What were you expecting? Most rail freight traffic isn't really "impressive". Doesn't have to be pretty or exotic to turn a profit.
Actually, in all seriousness, the garbage could really be big deal. Marin and Sonoma are quickly running out of landfill space and they're probably already recycling and composting a significantly higher-than-average percentage of their waste. Like many places they will pay dearly to move the stuff elsewhere, but pay they will.
Mr. Pechner: Agreed RE fishing, but just humor them anyway -- the big plans for a rock quarry are on the Eel river. Oh, right, I'm sure the rock for all their precious bike paths, highway 101 expansions and organic farm stand parking lots came from sustainable-yield, low-impact, carbon-neutral quarries :-).
