Margaret-- you don't know that info for sure.. They could have made the exchange at San Jose or Watsonville !!

It is ironic that one of the photos shows SP 4443 . Evidently it was one of SP's special engines for "special service" ! For example, the "Suntan"; several railfan excursions;
1957 "star" of the motion picture "Pal Joey", etc., etc...

One of the 4443 railfan excursions is one of the trips in the Greg Scholl video: SP Steam
Fantrips.
