Thanks for the replies...makes more sense it would move via rail since all rail routes to Santa Cruz are in tact. It is possible the UP could "donate" the move per say to assist the GGRM or maybe give them a decent rate on the move and write off any additional expenses. The move from Niles to Watsonville Jct. is not that many rail miles in the grand scheme of things and they could just justify it as good community PR outreach to assist a rail museum get a new start in a new city. Given they will probably be limited to a 25 mph speed restriction for the move I would imagine it will likely be a late night move when the least amount of freight and Amtrak rail traffic is operating to reduce any chances of delays to normal operations. Time will tell how it all plays out.
