Please keep the rest of us updated, as this "possible" Tehachipi reroute develops. I have heard a rumour about this, as well. Possibly due to a planned maintenance blitz on the Coast Line. This is not inconsistent with some of the changes that were made to accomodate the recent maintenance blitz's on LOSSAN recently (although there is no alternative routing). Also, UP's new administration has been more pro-active in dealing competently with Amtrak and Caltrans in CA, it is reflected in much better passenger performance on UP routes in the State. It's not necessarily a coincidence, this is where UP wants the State to pony up the $350 million plus for the Colton Crossing (aka "malfunction junction"), which would significantly benefit UP?

A trip across the Tehachipi would sure be an opportunity to seem some amazing railroad and beautiful scenery this time of year. So please do keep us posted with any information, as this develops.
