I just got my Amtrak ticket LAX-SAC OW coach w/ AAA discount. Availability must be close to sold out as the coach seat comes & goes. Finally got the correct info Myself yesterday p.m. from TUT regarding the private cars. As there is a 50/50 chance that my work will cancel this trip right up to Saturday at noon, I chose not to do the PV option. I'd be happy in the baggage car for the route. I'll probably fly into LAX late Saturday from DEN and fly out of SAC early Monday to SEA. Getting to OAK or SFO from SAC looks like too much trouble after the estimated 9 pm arrival. I wonder what the mix of public/railfans will be? Will there be a bunch of interested Amtrak employees or Rails on board for the trip?
