I don't know the braking equipment of the DMU, but an educated guess would say that the Citadis can stop faster from the same speed.
Reason: The Citadis has three brake systems (dynamic, mechanic, magnet). Dynamic will be the main brake, and with a good control system, it can brake just at the adhesion limit, which allows for the maximum deceleration. The mechanic brake can support the dynamic brake in this task on the driven axles, and do it on non-driven axles (again with a good brake control system). The magnetic brake is independent, and adds additional friction.
If I am not too wrong, the vehicle mass cancels itself out in the deceleration equation for the dynamic/mechanical brake when operating at the adhesion limit. The brake force of the magnetic brake does not depend on the mass of the vehicle, and for this component, weight does matter.
Now, it would be possible to equip a DMU similarly to the Citadis, and then the braking capability would become similar (braking capability measured in m/s^2).
