Gentlemen, this is CALIFORNIA, and the rail line is in SACRAMENTO, the CAPITAL. If you only knew how hard it is to work with the prevailing politics which overlay this railroad, your optimism might fade away faster than a good idea does in the legislature. We are darn lucky to have ANY steam railroad operations on the Sacramento Southern RR. Restoration work takes place in a dying structure, the old SP Boiler Shop. We can't even rescue the building with all the legal entanglements attached to it. Every year we are told the title transfer is ( ) months away, and every time it's a lie. Every single machine in the shop has to be tarped because the entire roof leaks everywhere when it rains. Millions of State dollars earmarked for the building were recently lost due to lack of action. It just gets better and better.
