Except for the "300 miles of washed out railroad" these comments are well thought out and worth chewing on. But are these people courting the Port of Coos Bay too? And if not, why not? There are issues of geography and infastructure there superior to Humboldt Bay, not the least of which is the mere 100 miles of repairable railroad to connect to the UP System. So who is playing the violin so well in Eureka? Is Goldman-Sachs just window shopping? Are these people so big they just burp money at the table when a new dessert shows up they haven't tried yet? Do GS strategists understand anything? Do they have to????

Before the major harbor improvements over a century ago Humboldt Bay was such a poor harbor it's bar occasionally closed off for short periods during dry years, becoming a brackish lagoon filling and bursting out to the ocean until the rains once again returned. The jetty and modern technology make this point moot. Humboldt Bay was always a place to "get stuff out of, not bring things into." The same holds true today...........except for the barge bringing in the highest priced gasoline in the country.

With 101 improvements I think Mike's idea of the reload at Willits makes the most sense.
