Ivanpah is a CSP (concentrated solar power) facility. In general I like solar but I hate the CSP facilities because they are killing birds at an alarming rate. The location chosen was poor but there were reasons behind the selection site I won't get into here.

Also not a huge fan of wind farms either. One of the very serious problems in Calif not talked about much is why removal of older blades/turbines has proceeded at such a snails pace. The old turbines have blades that turn up to 10 times faster than the new ones, and they continue to unnecessarily injure and kill many birds especially raptors.
