Thank you for the kind words! It would've been neat to take the train then.

I couldn't see it well enough from the train, but I suspect you are right. The location of the castle you shared, is very, very close to what we would've seen on the train. That castle you shared, however, doesn't mesh with the story (tall tale?) the lounge car attendant told.

SCW:
I've been lucky on my Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle trips. My super late trip was on the Southwest Chief some years back -- we were so late that we interrupted the 4th of July Parade in Hutchinson, Kansas, and we arrived in Chicago after midnight.

On-time performance for the Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle probably has improved with the double-tracking efforts between West Colton and El Paso.
