If I recall correctly, the lounge car attendant mentioned the castle was built by a rich man who married someone from Mexico. His wife was reluctant to live there, or something to that extent.

The story you heard, may sync with the story I heard. I just wish I remembered more of what the lounge car attendant said.

Regardless, I was in awe of the desert scenery in the area!
