Have you been inside a diesel locomotive? The controls from one engine to the next really aren't all that different; it's just like driving your home car day in and day out, and then getting a new job and driving a company car, or going on vacation and driving a rental car.
All the same controls, just a few differences in where things are.
We aren't talking the difference between a Horizon Air Q400, and an Airbus A380. Nor are we talking the difference between a Ford Focus and a Freightliner Cascadia. A locomotive is a locomotive, the only major difference being the air brake system.
