26-yard rail?

Back in the day, rail came in 13-yard-long sticks. When it's welded, we don't really think about how long the original length was. But I saw some rail laying near the UP right-of-way at Peru, Wyoming, and it was 26 yards long. When did they start making rail that long? Is most (or all) of it made that way now, or is much of it still 13 yards?
