My son was a driver for a hazmat hauler. The drivers were expected to lie on their logs and they were happy to do it because there was overtime in it for them. My son didn't want the extra hours and felt that it was just a matter of time before a sleepy driver plowed his rig into a minivan full of kids. He decided to quit before something horrible happened.
If the gubmint is pushing electronic logs perhaps its because they have evidence that this sort of thing is commonplace in the industry.
