Auto parts for almost all auto manufacturers are all still mostly served by rail, just not boxcars at docks on rail spurs.

Containers haul almost all of the auto parts moved by rail nowadays. It's been that way since SP started loading the "auto parts" containers at the LA Shops, in the 1980's, for things like the "new" American assembly plant for Honda's in Indiana......
