About half of the 89 footers going to Lewiston, ID had inbound scrap paper in them and then were loaded with huge rolls of tissue paper going out going to plants that would put the toilet paper on consumer sized rolls. Other cars were loaded with large cardboard tubes that you pour cement in. Many of the cars were former BNSF cars that had been relettered for PLCX. Also, a good number of the cars went through some sort of a life extension program in Lewiston and were stenciled as such adding another 5 to 10 years to service life.
A few cars failed the program and were cut up at the Port of Lewiston. I was in Lewiston three weeks ago and there were a few 89-footers spotted for loading and three were at Forebay in storage.
