South Bay NIMBYs

Same here, voting No as Metro has not shown me that it can efficiently manage a bigger pot o'money.
However, most of the South Bay gets what it wants which is NO MORE PUBLIC TRANSIT (that brings in Scary People of Color).
Torrance is the best example. They are building a 'transit center' in a low density industrial area on Crenshaw Blvd; few people live there, very few people will take public transit there. No evidence at all that the city would agree to a Hawthorne Blvd light rail alignment where thousands of people work and shop.
The Beach Cities are much the same. They came up with their silly little bus and forced the Metro 125 to end at Sepulveda. No more easy beach access for scary people.
Meanwhile here in Hawthorne/Lawndale/Gardena we have far higher apartment density, lower incomes and thus greater bus transit needs, but our Service Council reps never respond to our requests to reverse Metro service cutbacks.
Gaahh!
