I remember the 70 well. The very short time I worked on EUKA I seemed to have caught it about half the time. Because of its small fuel tank and lighter weight, it was kept working between Eureka, Arcata and the Annie & Marie. Every now and then they would have to deadhead it down to work the rock train if one of the 38s wasn't available. As I recall it was actually fairly reliable, and I do remember hitting the ground on it at least once.

Goodbye old friend. It is a shame what happened to the old NWP and A&MR.
