When the northern section of the Santa Cruz Branch was in operation, commuters could go from downtown San Jose to downtown Santa Cruz in 90 minutes. I'm not sure you can do that at any time of the day now by car. So why abandon or restrict the southern portion of the branch, which may be needed as a second transportation corrdor in coming decades?
