Amtrak has faced similar challenges involving eagles along the river line north of New York City. Eagles have been struck when feedilng on other animals struck by trains and so Amtrak has to patrol the route removing any carrion and keep a record of the types of animals. An Amtrak colleague told me he was reviewing the log a few weeks ago and noticed a turtle listed among the dead. His comment, "He never had a chance!"
