Mountain lions are off limits to hunting except as required to eradicate for personal safety or
livestock protection but since California has nearly 10,000 I'd hardly call them endangered. As to
the turtle, UP had to do turtle underpasses up Cima Hill when they added the third track and that
was only after extensive studies. UP protested saying the turtle was faster than most of their
trains but that didn't work.
