Fine. But that is what happens when someone cries wolf too much - they aren't believed!
Many of us are attracted to this forum for its informative value; both in regards to the mundane facts, and especially for the human interest side of railroading. Some are also interested in the effects of current political intrigues upon railroading as well.
Yes, a fantasy now and then can be fun too.
But, too much gets tiresome. Just know when to quit - before it gets old! Or at least come up with something really original for your next "Caper". When it reaches the point we must all turn our BS Filters up too high - to do what we come here for - then there is a legitimate complaint.

As for Cal-Trans: yes they are studying the thing - too death! And this forum has covered it before. What triggered everyone's "Pipe Dream Filter" back then was that the original Cal-Trans press release could be construed that an entirely new railroad was being considered. Obviously, even considering such, is a flat waste of taxpayers money - and CalTrans knows it.
Mass unloading of a ship directly to a string of double stack cars, and then hauling them elsewhere to be sorted, does make a lot of sense in cutting congestion at the port (other ports are considering this also).
But when and if that ever happens, it will be by the port and its private enterprise partners - in spite of Cal-Trans, not because of them. They are certain to to just get in the way just as they have before. Remember, they are completely highway oriented, and every rail project they have ever touched actually languished or even tanked; until taken away from them and given to a pro-rail organization. Both CalTrain and the Capital Corridor are prime examples.
