WP's were the first GP20s. They later ordered hi-nose GP30s, but changed it to lo-nose GP35s. The first lo-nose GP9 was built for Phelps-Dodge Copper, although it was a special case and actually ran long hood-first. I've always wondered what was behind the last 20 SP GP9s being lo-nose (SP's idea, or something EMD came up with?). The last order of Alco RS-11s for SP were lo-nose also.
