I'm not saying a cooperation between WRM and GGRM couldn't work (although experience suggests otherwise), but there's an issue that must be seriously considered: the space to build facilities for GGRM's collection. They have the 2472, four diesels, and a number of passenger cars that would need a restoration/maintenance shop, and hopefully, covered storage. There's no more room at Rio Vista Junction (there are plans to erect another carbarn to house more of WRM's collection at the former parking lot location), so GGRM would have to negotiate with surrounding property owners to purchase (or lease--bad idea)some land for their facilities. This would complicate matters and add considerable costs. Not saying it's a problem that couldn't be overcome, but I thought it should be mentioned. Of course, moving from one rented/leased location to another raises the prospect of being evicted yet again in the future. The smartest thing BAERA members ever did was to purchase outright the property at Rio Vista Junction long ago.
