Trail only option in Santa Cruz

This weeks Santa Cruz Good Times free "newspaper" with the blue Surf Issue front cover has a two page!! ad pushing a Trail-Only option. One page is a list of reasons why rails are not worth saving/supporting and the other page is a list of supposedly 1,500 locals who signed a petition to support the Trail-Only option. They say railbanking will save the corridor while the bicyclists and pedestrians will use the entire corridor for the next 20 years while we see what happens next. They say the corridor from Davenport to Watsonville is projected to move 6,105 bicycles and 7,462 pedestrians daily. They say Write your city and county supervisors and tell them "that a large majority of voters want a wide beautifully landscaped and completely off-street multi-use trail running from Davenport to Watsonville". The only evidence of who paid for this is at the bottom on page 1 - "Great Santa Cruz Trail Group".
