Most of the crossings on the Oregon Electric District of the Portland & Western Railroad still have a crossing sign identifying the railroad as BNSF, with the phone number for BNSF Police to report a crossing problem.

That railroad was taken over by Portland & Western in 1995 and 1997.

Until just last year, many crossbucks on the former SP lines still said "Southern Pacific" - but ODOT made P&W take them down (because the crossbucks did not meet reflectivity requirements, and ODOT wanted stop signs at all unsignalled crossings.)

Southern Pacific heralds still adorn overpasses in Salem and Oregon City on old 99E, and on an overpass east of Canby on the Molalla Branch (now part of Oregon Pacific RR) on a county road.
