Actually, the enviro-nuts in Oregon love passenger trains, to the point they are willing to pay to subsidize nearly empty Amtrak Cascades and WES Commuter Rail trains, even though they are less efficient and more polluting than buses carrying the same number of riders.

They just hate freight trains.

If the enviro-wack-a-doodles had their way, we would have high speed rail connecting Keno, Oregon with Imnaha, Oregon with Cove Orchard, Oregon with Valsetz, Oregon with Shaniko, Oregon with Christmas Valley, Oregon - every 30 seconds, 24 hours a day, every single day.
