Several years ago I was on a Surfliner from LA to San Luis Obispo
After stopping at Santa Barbara the train accelerated toward the end of double track, and braked heavily, running past the red, but not onto the switch, about to be used by the Ellwood Local. Our train backed up and it got sorted out.
I was listening to my scanner, no panic no harm no foul no report to the DS no waiting hours for a new crew.
