How about asking the "transit planners" at TriMet, Metro, and the City of Portland, why THEY hate bus riders. There are some planners that truly believe that driving an automobile is actually better than bus service, and there are planners that believe building parking lots (for MAX) is better than improving bus service.

So all these low-income workers who can barely afford to live in the region and can't afford a car...how are they supposed to ride transit when they absolutely can't live near a MAX line, and their bus line gets cut? Or, they're lucky in that they get a bus, but now their bus line has been rerouted from being a direct route downtown, to one that only connects with MAX, while doing so at far less service frequency, so their trip time now is doubled compared to the bus service?

But, rail HAS to be better, because it's rail. People don't ride the bus. They choose to ride the train. Look at all those people riding WES, and Amtrak Cascades between Portland and Eugene. Oh, wait...
