These original LA-LB cars were purchased for the opening of the Blue Line in 1990, and many are almost 30 years old, and are literally falling apart. They should have had a major rebuild/rehab after 12-15 years which probably would have extended the life, but didn't.... Many PE cars were rebuilt, or had that necessary major heavy maintenance at PE's Torrance Shops over those time spans, these didn't...... And, most are now too far gone to make that cost effective.
