Bare me out. Old Timer may have been referring to MODEL trains, of which I'd have to agree about the modeling side. I'm the generation the manufacturers have left in the dust.(age 59) You have a huge choice of items to build the 1930's through the end of steam. Then there is this modern push at present trying to lure the young generation with Stack trains pulled by the latest motive power at prices I could never afford if I were young now. It's crazy! Yes, the Baby Boomers are in the drivers seat when it comes to income and throw away money and they are driving the modeling side stuck in the 40's and 50's, 80's into New Century. Forty four years I've waited for a nice plastic N Scale SDP-40F. DC! Thank you Kato.
As far as the photography side goes, everyone can afford a camera now. Heck. They are built into all kinds of contraptions (cell phones mostly) that take better pictures then some real looking cameras and they are all digital (computer driven) which the youth of today have grown up with, just like those before with Brownie boxes, bellows, 35mm and digital, which they understand and push the boundaries like we all tried to do with the media we were into.
Yes. The Model train hobby may go the wayside sometime, but the railroad photography side will continue, as every picture tells a story. Thank's, Rod!
