A Railfan in 2017? To answer David's question from my perspective in my mid 60s, would be getting my collections of slides, models, RR books and railroadiana in better order than what I have now. Just how much stuff brings me "joy and happiness"? Do I really need this news clipping that is probably digitally archived somewhere on the Internet. Weed out duplicate books and timetables and wisely dispose of extras.

I spend more time keeping up on day to day railroading on e-mail and Internet web sites instead of trying to bother the local (usually friendly) yard clerk. Still do get out for an occasional photo trip, but am more selective towards weather, subject matter and time available.
