In the collection of the B & O Museum in Baltimore is a replica of the Tom Thumb one of the earliest American locomotives. Although it is not the original, I believe it's existence is an example of rail preservation.
I pay well above my basic dues to a local rail museum and by girlfriend & I have contributed to 2 railroad station restoration efforts. How much do you contribute to rail preservation? Last year, I donated $100 to help bring Duluth & Northeastern 28 back to operation, even though I live more than 800 miles away.

Speaking of canines you're really barking up the wrong tree. The problem isn't what happens to digs in shelters. Dying coral reefs and removal of Appalachian mountain tops to mine coal are much more important animal issues.
