I was reading about the ATSF depot in Perris. It was given by OERM to the city in 2007, under some conditions as follows:
"The Museum signed title of the building over to the City in exchange for a 99-year lease, and the City approved $1.5M in additional restoration funds (beyond the original federal grant) that would transform the building into a true community icon."

Hmm, I have mixed feelings about a museum giving away historic structures and property to a city. Yeah, it's a burden off the museum, but it seems against the museum mission. At least to me. Plus, cities can do wacky, unpredictable things when the wrong mayor and council get in charge. You know, like convert it to subsidized housing or the like.
