In the early 80's my dad took me to the Isaac Walton Inn in Essex, MT. Is was about 14. The helper crews would be in the cafe at breakfast time and they would be on the radio with train crews sometimes. The depot and trainorder signal were still there too. Pretty neat railroad ambiance back then.

I read an old TO post by Carol Voss that the founder of Altamont Press used to frequent a Perko's Cafe in Modesto that was right along the M&ET. I searched for it on Google maps but can't find it. Maybe they moved to one of the other 3 current Perko's in Modesto.
