Where do folks come up with this crap that those fighting SMART are pro-highway?
Take a look at who has signed the ballot arguments in 2006 and 2008.
In opposition: Heads of environmental organizations, Heads of operating private bus companies,
taxpayer groups, local homeowners impacted by rail noise.)
Meanwhile look at who is giving money to the pro-SMART hype: Sonoma developers,
construction unions, engineering firms, and freight interests.
Where do you get off saying that opponents to SMART don't support public transit?
Many of them are Golden Gate Transit riders/supporters. One was on the citizens
bus advisory committee. The groups supported Measure A in 2004 and helped get
it passed. (About half went for buses.)
The claim that the highway lobby is involved in this is total bunk.
